Job description:
Pay: $35-39,000 annually with potential for raise depending on work performance and budget

Job Type: Full-time
Benefits: Benefits eligible after 90 days of full-time employment. Company pays 1/2 your healthcare for you and up ttwdependents. Company matches 401k contributions up t4%. Paid holidays. Vacation & Sick time accrual yearly.
Hours: 9-6pm shift with the Shelter Manager & Adoption/Intake Coordinator. Saturdays 8-5pm. Thursdays and Sundays off weekly.
Job Assignments: Intake/Adoption Coordinator
Intakes
- Scan for microchip
- Administer necessary vaccines
- Examine for Flea/Ticks/Injuries and communicate treatment accordingly
- Photograph from multiple angles
- Enter pet tonline portal with approximate age, weight, etc
- Print window card and send tKennel Tech with pet
- Add pet tRAC Facebook
- Ensure most recent medical history is printed and filed tsend with adopter
- Upon adoption, take happy tails pictures and post tRAC FB with permission from adopters
- Update adopted/reclaimed pets on Shelter Track
Forms & Filing
- Ensure adequate number of forms are printed in filing cabinet for when needed
- File liability and surgery waivers
- File adoption/impound paperwork as needed
- Create monthly file folder tarchive
Vetting (Wednesday)
- Enter vetting (vaccines, microchip, surgery notes, hw test results, etc) intShelter Track
- Print and hang new window cards
- Print and file updated medical records
- Enter exam results from communication log intShelter Track
- Ensure all pets needing any medical care or vetting are added tthe appropriate vet schedule
Website & Promotional
- Facebook
- Adding daily pet of the day
- Updating Facebook cover photweekly tpet of the week
- Posting promotions (low cost clinics, events, resources etc)
- Respond tall messages & necessary comments
- Email
- Checking email regularly throughout the day, responding tevery incoming email
- Scheduling owner surrender appointments
- Screening and approving/denying adoption applications as necessary
- Checking emails on closed Holidays tbe proactive in reuniting lost & found pets
General
- Enter monthly heartworm preventative
- Update all animal’s bios w/ temperament information weekly & print updated information
- Keep a current list of Diamond Dogs and HW + dogs
- Approve lost/found reports as soon as they are submitted
- Update photos from photographer- print/hang new window cards
- Answering phones and fielding calls tanimal control, offering resources, answering animal questions, etc.
- Completing Adoption Paperwork
- Communicate supply needs when items are low or damaged
- Ensure all vetting and pictures are received in a timely manner tstart the process
- Schedule any needed vetting for Owner Surrenders

Job Summary
Join our dedicated team as a Kennel Technician and become a vital part of providing exceptional animal care in a shelter environment. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable kennel area while supporting the health and well-being of our animals. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help ensure that every pet receives compassionate care, from feeding and cleaning to assisting with meeting potential adopters. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with animals, veterinary professionals, and pet owners, fostering a positive environment for all.
Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and surrounding areas to uphold hygiene standards and prevent the spread of disease
- Assist with animal handling, restraint, and animal enrichment activities.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by management, including injections and oral medications.
- Monitor animals’ behavior and health status, reporting any concerns or abnormalities promptly
- Maintain accurate records of animal treatments, medications administered, and kennel occupancy.
- Provide compassionate pet care by feeding, watering, grooming, and comforting animals during their stay
Skills Desired (not required)
- Prior kennel experience or animal husbandry background with a strong understanding of pet care routines is encouraged.
- Veterinary technician experience or veterinary clinic background demonstrating familiarity with medical terminology and procedures
- Knowledge of animal restraint techniques, medication administration, and aseptic techniques for infection control
- Experience with animal handling across various species including dogs, cats, and horses; equine experience is a plus
- Laboratory experience or familiarity with veterinary laboratory procedures is advantageous
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and adopters while demonstrating professionalism and compassion
- Strong understanding of animal physiology, anatomy, catheterization techniques, and pet care best practices
